Ambition is a word that has grown increasingly unflattering as of late. It provokes images of cutthroat business tactics and people who took the movie Scarface way too literally. Being that ambition itself is at the core of the Manner brand, a tangible piece of our development was putting our finger on exactly what this “right sort of ambition” should look like for men in 2021. As we continued to work through these thoughts collectively, we were introduced to David Lenhardt in his living room turned workshop in Northern Cincinnati. As he walked us through the purpose of each intricate piece of his leather-filled work space, you could clearly see that David has a soft spoken drive about him that makes you excited to see him succeed. As we continued the conversation, he brought out a few of his one-off custom pieces and even put together a few of the leather koozies you will see in this month’s Day On The River box so we could see the process in action. The hand crafted creativity was as rare as it was refreshing to see in the age of digital innovation. Upon hearing a bit more about his plans to grow his leatherworking business, it became increasingly obvious that David possessed the exact sort of ambition that Manner was born out of. As our time together was wrapping up, he mentioned that the box order Manner placed will be a significant help in allowing him to take the next steps in his business plan. As a lifestyle brand that cares deeply about the lives of those we are connected to, it doesn’t get much better than that.
